We are so impressed by today’s youth.  It is amazing what they will do to raise awareness for a cause!  Jennifer Wyffels’ Spanish 4 classes at Geneseo High School raised over $400 by collecting spare change from their friends at school! One of their chapters in their text book is on issues in the world so they wanted to raise awareness at the school about clean water. Students carried around empty water jugs collecting “change for a change.”

When asked what the most interesting thing they learned was, the class was very candid: “Often we think that people who don’t have clean water are predominantly in Africa, but it’s actually all across the world and more people need it than we would have thought.” Ms. Wyffel’s class wanted to know how their donation was directly impacting Spanish speaking countries and when they found out that just $25 guarantees clean water for life, they were shocked! “People generally spend more money on their shoes than they do saving someone else’s life. Oh my gosh! We saved 16 people!”

The class even came up with a Spanish “catch-phrase” regarding clean water:

“Si no tienes agua bueno, no tienes vida buena. Agua limpia, vida limpia. Agua limpio, corazón limpio”

English Translation: “If you do not have good water, you do not have good life. Clean water, clean life. Clean water, clean heart”

A big shout out and thank you to Jennifer Wyffel’s and her Spanish 4 classes!

We’re on a mission to end the global water crisis. We build holistic clean water solutions and spread God’s love in at-risk communities around the world, empowering people not just to survive, but to thrive – physically, socially and spiritually.
