The full impact of a woman’s life is immeasurable. It only takes one woman—or a small group—to change history’s course.
In the Bible, a man named Zelophehad died without any male heirs. His five daughters went to Moses, asking that their father’s inheritance be passed on to them, since he had no sons. Moses spoke to the Lord.
“What Zelophehad’s daughters are saying is right. You must certainly give them property as an inheritance among their father’s relatives and give their father’s inheritance to them.”
— Numbers 27:7
That changed the course of history for millions of women who were now able to receive their father’s inheritance—and it all started with five women.
Healing Waters Helps Women Empower Women
In Haiti, Healing Waters International’s team understands the importance of women empowering women.
“It’s impossible to do our work without women,” said country director Wesly C. Hippolyte. “Women from every community who teach the Health & Hygiene classes are essential to the success of our work.”
These women teach other women the importance of healthy habits and good hygiene. This essential training spreads within the community, from mother to daughter, then to their granddaughter, and on through the generations.
And women can do even more. Working with Healing Waters International, women can be trained how to run the water purification systems that provide safe water to their communities. And these safe water units last through the generations.
