Each year in early February, we gather together as an organization to review and recommit ourselves to the mission of Healing Waters International. We do this to keep our mission current, clear and compelling to each of us in our daily work and to insure that we are all unified in our pursuit of the mission – thus avoiding what is referred to as “mission drift.”

This year we were excited that the board of directors was in Golden CO at headquarters holding a board meeting the same day, so they were able to participate in HWI’s mission day with the global staff. As in the past, all field staff participated with us via Zoom, and they also had other “Annual Mission Day” activities together in their country locations.

We chose the theme for this year to be “Why Our Mission Matters.” Our Board Chairman Mark Wentzien started us off by reading and then explaining Healing Waters’ mission statement:

We’re on a mission to end the global water crisis. We build holistic clean water solutions and spread God’s love in at-risk communities around the world, empowering people not just to survive, but to thrive – physically, socially and spiritually.

Team members reflected on our global impact. Then one by one, select team members from each field office and from headquarters as well as the Board of Directors reflected on the reasons why they believe that our mission matters and shared specific stories to illustrate their answers.

We wrapped our Annual Mission Day with group prayer asking for God’s grace and power to stay on mission and to achieve the mission. Afterwards at headquarters, we broke bread together and continued to thank God for this mission!
